BRILLIANT SPRING CONCERT!
Fareham
in Harmony
The atmosphere in
Portchester Community School Hall on Monday 17th March was electric as
the young singers of Fareham in Harmony entertained a large audience in
their first full-length concert. The first half of the concert included a forceful performance of the ecologically sound 'Green Songs' by Bob Chilcott - brilliant young accompanist, Vincent Webb thrilled with his solo prelude by Debussy - and the choir returned with the cheerful childrens song 'I bought me a cat' by Aaron Copland.
The singers were then joined by Nigel Perrin (ex Kings Singers) in a rousing performance of Hip Hip Horatio - written by Michael Hurd and Michael Blom.
They handled the complexities of the words and the variations in the musical styles very effectively.
Finally, the singers taught the audience how to sing their own song 'Fareham in Harmony' - composed by young people in Fareham in the recent songwriting workshops run by Matt Hales (Aqualung) - and everyone present joined in the first public performance!
REHEARSALS FOR THE SUMMER CONCERT AT THE PORTCHESTER FESTIVAL START MONDAY 21 APRIL at 5.30 pm.
New singers always welcome!
Fareham in Harmony is open to young people aged 8-16 years.
