The Concerts:
Monday 17 March 2008 - Portchester School
Hall - 7.30 pm.
Works by Michael Hurd (Hip Hip Horatio), Bob Chilcott (Green Songs) and
Aaron Copland (I bought me a cat) will give Colin Davey the opportunity
to develop the ability to sing in parts and continue to improve the
choirs tone and musicality. We hope that Nigel Perrin (Ex Kings
Singers) will sing the narrator role in Hip Hip Horatio. The songs chosen offer a wide range of musical styles - and we will aim to make it a joyful and vivacious concert.
Admission will be free - we shall hold a raffle to raise funds for future concerts - refreshments will be available.
Saturday 12 July 2008 - Portchester Festival Marquee - 3.00 pm.
A choral performance of many great songs from High School Musical 2 - the Disney hit movie and TV series. We will join many other music-makers who regularly rock Portcheser in Juy. We feel that this programme will suit the occasion and may prove attractive and get more young singers to join us.
The concert will form part ofthe Fareham Philharmonic Choirs 'Garden Party' concerts - High School Musical will be followed by time for a picnic before FPC present their own programme of summer songs. More details nearer the time.
December 2008 - exact date and venue yet to be decided
Christmas concert - A selection of pieces from Handel's Messiah - set for young voices will form the centrepoint of a challenging programme of Christmas Music. The aim is to give young singers the opportunity to experience a major classical work - and it will stretch and improve their choral technique.Outlook for 2009
In March 2009 we will present the Gala concert that will mark the end of the pilot project which has been generously funded by Youth Music, Fareham and Hampshire Councils. The concert will be held in Ferneham Hall and will feature performances by our partners Aqualung together with contributions from many other musical groups in the Fareham area. The winning songs from the 2008 Songwriting Competition will be performed at this concert.By this time we have to be able to show that Fareham in Harmony can continue to exist as a self-funding performance organisation.
