Write a new song for Fareham -
What you
have to do
-
Write a new song - maximum length 4 minutes - either on your own or with up to 2 friends.
- Make a recording of that new song - the quality of the performance will not be taken into account by the judges so long as the tune can clearly be heard.
- Transfer the recording onto a CD - judges will not listen to tapes, minidisks, MP3 files or any other recorded media - your teachers or parents may be able to help you do this.
- Write (or type) out the words on a Lyric Sheet. Make sure all the words of the song are legible.
- If you wish to provide a written score or vocal arrangements please feel free to do so - they may help the judges appreciate your song better.
- Download the RULES of the competition and study them carefully so you know how to submit your entry properly.
- Download an ENTRY-FORM and complete it fully. One form must be completed for each of the writers if it is a group entry.
- Put the CD, Lyric Sheet, Entry form(s) and £5 entry fee into an envelope and address it to Fareham In Harmony - and submit it as described on the entry form.
Entries MUST be received by the judges before midday on 1 November 2008
The judges will prepare a short-list of finalists in each age-group in November - finalists will be notified.
The winning entries will be chosen in December 2008 - winners will be notified.
The winners will be invited to work with a professional musician to preapre their song for performance by Fareham in Harmony at the concert on 13 March 2009 in Ferneham Hall.
Prizes (worth at least £50 for each age-group) will be presented at that concert.
