First rehearsal of the new youth choir.  30 young singers and 3 trainee music leaders welcomed by Colin Davey (Musical Director) and Karen Kingsley (Accompanist).

Colin Davey  welcomes 30 young singers and 3 trainee music  leaders to start to rehearse 'Dona Nobis Pacem' and 'No wars will stop us singing' for a concert performance on 3 November (just 7 short weeks away)!

Getting the singers

Colin Davey (Musical Director) and Tony Hales(project leader) have been busy letting young people know about the opportunity to join the new choir.  Posters and leaflets have been distributed to primary and secondary schools in Fareham and Colin has attended some year-group assemblies to promote the idea. The local Newspaper 'THE NEWS' published an excellent supporting article.

Trainee music leaders

One of the key committments made by Fareham Philharmonic Society has been the recruitment and training of older young people who want to develop their skills as music leaders.  Lisa Kay, Emily Seall and Sonia Exelby will lead sections of the choir, helping them to develop their musicality.

Performance pieces

The first performance will be with Fareham Philharmonic Choir in their concert of 'War and Remembrance' to be performed in Holy Trinity Church, Fareham on 3 November 2007.  The young singers will perform with the adults in 'Dona Nobis Pacem' by David Fanshawe described by the composer as ‘… a limitless horizon of hope for the future and love for the world’. The youngsters will also sing 'No wars will stop us singing' by Don Black - their first 'solo' gig!
